Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC) processes more than 200,000 trade visitors annually across 10 major exhibitions, establishing itself as Vietnam's primary gateway for international B2B commerce in the country's economic capital.

The Ho Chi Minh City venue serves as the anchor point for Vietnam's rapidly expanding trade show sector, which generated $2.8 billion in economic impact in 2023 according to UFI data. SECC's strategic positioning in District 7 places exhibitors within 30 minutes of Tan Son Nhat International Airport and the city's manufacturing districts that house more than 3,000 export-focused factories.

Manufacturing Focus Drives Exhibition Portfolio

SECC's calendar reflects Vietnam's manufacturing boom, with Metal & Weld 2026 targeting the country's $45 billion metalworking sector and Analytica Vietnam 2027 serving laboratory and analytical technology buyers across Southeast Asia. The venue's industrial exhibition focus aligns with Ho Chi Minh City's role as home to 40% of Vietnam's foreign direct investment projects.

Vietnam Expo - Ho Chi Minh City 2026 represents the venue's largest trade platform, connecting international suppliers with Vietnamese importers across multiple sectors. The show typically generates 15,000 business meetings over four days, according to organizer data.

"SECC provides the infrastructure international exhibitors need to access Vietnam's $400 billion economy," said Nguyen Thanh Long, managing director of Vietnam National Trade Fair & Advertising Company. "The venue's proximity to manufacturing clusters creates direct access to decision-makers."

Consumer Market Access Through B2B Platform

The venue balances industrial exhibitions with consumer-focused B2B events including Vietnam Home & Garden Expo 2026 and IGHE Vietnam 2026, targeting retailers serving the country's 97 million consumers. These shows connect international brands with Vietnam's expanding middle class, which grew by 12% annually from 2020-2023.

SECC's consumer exhibitions generate average orders of $2.3 million per participating international company, based on post-show surveys from 2023 events.

Transportation Infrastructure Supports International Access

Tan Son Nhat International Airport, located 18 kilometers from SECC, processed 38 million passengers in 2023 with direct connections to 40 international destinations. The airport expansion project, scheduled for completion in 2025, will increase capacity to 50 million annual passengers.

The venue connects to Ho Chi Minh City's metro system via District 7 stations, providing exhibitor access to the city center and hotel districts. Local shuttle services operate between SECC and major business hotels during exhibition periods.

"The combination of airport proximity and metro connectivity makes SECC accessible for both international exhibitors and Vietnamese buyers from surrounding provinces," said Dr. Pham Van Duc, director of Vietnam Exhibition Industry Association.

Hotel Capacity Meets Exhibition Demand

Ho Chi Minh City maintains 45,000 hotel rooms across all categories, with 8,500 rooms in four and five-star properties concentrated in Districts 1 and 3. Average hotel occupancy during major SECC exhibitions reaches 85%, with rates ranging from $80-200 per night for business-class accommodations.

The Saigon South area, within 10 minutes of SECC, houses 12 international hotel brands including Marriott, Hyatt, and InterContinental properties. Corporate rates during exhibition periods typically include shuttle service to the venue.

Local Business Environment Supports B2B Activity

Ho Chi Minh City generates 23% of Vietnam's GDP through its 320,000 registered businesses, creating a dense network of potential exhibition buyers and partners. The city's Saigon High-Tech Park, located 15 minutes from SECC, houses more than 150 technology companies including Intel, Samsung, and local manufacturers.

Vietnam's trade liberalization policies, including participation in CPTPP and EVFTA agreements, eliminated tariffs on 99% of goods traded with European and Pacific partners, increasing demand for international sourcing exhibitions at venues like SECC.

"International companies use SECC exhibitions to establish Vietnamese operations before expanding across ASEAN markets," said Le Thi Minh, regional director of Reed Exhibitions Vietnam. "The venue serves as a testing ground for Asian market entry strategies."

SECC's 2025 calendar includes expansion of existing shows and addition of new sectors including renewable energy and digital manufacturing, reflecting Vietnam's economic diversification beyond traditional textiles and electronics manufacturing.
