New Leadership for Global Events Industry

The International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) has elected Brian Pagel, Executive Vice President at Emerald, as its 2026 Board Chairperson. The announcement was made during Expo! Expo! IAEE's Annual Meeting & Exhibition 2025, which took place December 8-10 in Houston.

Pagel brings nearly 30 years of experience in the business-to-business events and media industry to the role. Throughout his career, he has produced more than 300 live trade events across diverse vertical markets and forged partnerships with leading trade associations. His track record includes launching brands into new markets, guiding businesses through economic cycles, and overseeing multiple strategic acquisitions.

"I am deeply honored to serve as IAEE's 2026 Chairperson and to work alongside such a dedicated and talented Board," Pagel said. "Our industry continues to evolve, and I'm committed to ensuring IAEE remains at the forefront of innovation while strengthening the connections that make face-to-face events so powerful for business growth and community building."

Board Composition and New Members

IAEE's Board of Directors are elected annually by the official voting member of each IAEE member company. Five new members have joined the 2026 board, including Eric Blanc from Orange County Convention Center, Stacy McManus from Society of Interventional Radiology, and Justin Moore from BPAA.

The continuing board includes Chairperson-Elect Michelle Edmonson from AMT – The Association for Manufacturing Technology, Secretary/Treasurer Emile K. Davis from The American Institute of Architects, and Immediate Past Chairperson Chuck Grouzard from GES.

IAEE President and CEO Marsha Flanagan praised the selection: "Brian brings exceptional leadership experience and a proven track record of success in the exhibitions and events industry. His strategic vision and collaborative approach will serve our members well as we continue to advance IAEE's mission and support the growth of exhibitions and events worldwide."

Industry Representation

The 2026 board represents diverse sectors within the exhibitions industry, with members from venue management companies, trade associations, technology providers, and event organizers. Ex-officio directors represent specialized councils including the China Council, led by Daben Mao from China Merchants Exhibition Management Shenzhen Co., Ltd.

IAEE, trusted since 1928, serves as the largest association of the exhibitions and events industry worldwide. Its membership includes organizers of more than 20,000 exhibitions and buyer-seller events around the world, along with exhibitors and exhibition suppliers.
