Three-Stage Learning Approach Targets Busy Event Professionals
CHS Manchester has unveiled a new education strategy designed around how event professionals prefer to learn, emphasising fast, focused sessions with practical takeaways. The programme operates across three distinct spaces, each delivering content in sessions limited to 25 minutes maximum.
The format aims to provide attendees more time on the show floor while delivering actionable advice on areas that matter to industry professionals. Emma King, CEO of CHS Manchester, explained the thinking behind the approach: "We get a lot of good feedback on our education and try to find the balance between CPD and the need to build events while at our events."
Revolution Stage Addresses Current Industry Pressures
The Revolution Stage, named as a nod to Manchester's industrial heritage while focusing on current and future industry challenges, will host sessions addressing real pressures facing event professionals. Topics include leadership development, effective communication strategies, personal brand building, and career planning.
The stage will also feature a Productivity Hackathon designed to share quick ideas that attendees can immediately implement. Sessions focus on practical skills rather than theoretical concepts, reflecting the programme's emphasis on utility.
Manchester Stage Showcases Local Expertise
The Manchester Stage leverages the city's unique character and expertise, moving away from theory toward practical applications of local knowledge. This space highlights Manchester's people, culture, and distinctive approach to events, incorporating the city's identity into programming content.
The stage represents an effort to connect event programming with the specific advantages and characteristics that Manchester brings to the industry.
Industry Hub Facilitates Networking and Partnerships
The Industry Hub provides space for associations and partners to host sessions, workshops, and smaller group activities. This area focuses on relationship building between visitors and representative industry bodies, offering networking opportunities alongside educational content.
The hub's format allows for more intimate sessions and direct engagement between attendees and industry organisations.
Educational Reset Reflects Industry Feedback
King described the programme as "a reset across our education" that incorporates new speakers, content themes, and a three-stage format designed for high energy delivery. The strategy responds to feedback received about previous educational offerings while attempting to balance continuing professional development requirements with practical event building needs.
The 25-minute session limit reflects research into how event professionals prefer to consume educational content during trade events, prioritising efficiency and immediate applicability over extended presentations.
